Kristine Borge graduates with a Master’s degree in Opera
In June 2021 Kristine finished her education at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts after three years, recieving a Master’s degree in Opera.
For her master project Kristine delved into the character of Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. “I really wanted to explore Tatiana’s motivation and choices from a modern feminist perspective.” Kristine says about her project.
At her examination concert, Kristine performed excerpts from Tchaikovsky's opera in Russian, including The Letter Scene and the third act finale, with baritone Eilert Hasseldal as Onegin accompanied by pianist Olesya Tutova. The 45 minute performance was cut, directed and fully staged by Kristine herself, making it a seamless short version of Tchaikovsky's original work, but completely focused on Tatianas development as a character.
Debut as Rosalinde
Kristine Borge made her debut as Rosalinde in a production of Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus directed by Jacopo Spirei and conducted by Gregor Bühl at the National Academy of Opera in Oslo during February 2021. The operetta was sung in the original German with Norwegian dialogue and had set design by Mauro Tinti and costumes by Karianne Caspara Haagensen.
The production was severely affected by the ongoing Covid19-pandemic, with sickness in the cast, quarantines and a shortened rehearsal period. In the end, the fully staged production was played for a nearly empty theatre due to audience restrictions, making it #TheShowYouWillNeverSee, as it was advertised through social media.
